The Board of Regents (BoR) and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) have a joint goal that beginning with the freshman class of 2025 all Louisiana public high school graduates will complete high school with college credit (academic and/or career-technical), a postsecondary credential of value or both.

The Fast Forward Program will prepare students for current and emerging professions that expose students to high-skill, high-wage and in-demand occupations. It will assist with establishing statewide industry or sector partnerships among local educational agencies and institutions of higher education, and facilitate the establishment, expansion and integration of opportunities for students to successfully complete coursework that integrates rigorous and challenging technical and academic instruction.

Fast Forward Jump Start 2.0 Pathway

This pathway encompasses a vast array of careers or postsecondary pathways students may enter after earning a technical associate degree on a postsecondary campus or Board of Regents approved satellite campus and dually earning a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma. Students will spend grades 9 and 10 on the high school campus earning required diploma coursework.

Fast Forward TOPS University Pathway

This pathway allows students to earn a universal transfer degree or technical associate degree from a postsecondary campus while dually earning a TOPS University Diploma. The curriculum for the transfer associate degrees are consistent at all LCTCS campuses and allow students to seamlessly transfer to a four year institution upon earning the degree. Students will spend grades 9 and 10 on the high school campus earning required diploma coursework.

Fast Forward Registered Apprenticeship Pathway

This pathway encompasses a vast array of careers or postsecondary pathways students may enter after participating in a Louisiana Workforce Commission approved registered apprenticeship program and dually earning a Jump Start TOPS Tech Career Diploma or a TOPS University Diploma. Students will spend grades 9 and 10 on the high school campus earning required diploma coursework.

DUAL ENROLLMENT OPPORTUNITIES

West Ouachita High School currently participates with three post-secondary schools to offer dual enrollment opportunities for both our TOPS University and TOPS Tech (Jumpstart) students. Currently, OPSB provides funds seniors taking these courses (2 courses per semester). ULM courses are $300 each and NSU courses are $180 each plus the cost of required textbooks which is about $100.

TOPS UNIVERSITY STUDENTS:

ULM and NSU Dual Enrollment Courses are available for 10^th-12^th grade TOPS University students. Students may choose DE courses for the next school year during scheduling in the spring each year. Once students indicate an interest in DE, the counselor will meet with them individually to assess eligibility and begin the application process. Students will take courses on our campus and receive both college credit at ULM and high school credit.

TOPS TECH (JUMPSTART) and TOPS UNIVERSITY STUDENTS:

Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) Dual Enrollment courses are available for the 12^th grade TOPS TECH (Jumpstart) and TOPS University students. Funding for these courses is limited to the Career Technical Education area. Once students indicate an interest in DE, the counselor will meet with them individually to assess eligibility and begin the application process. Students will take courses on the LDCC Camp Road campus and receive both college credit at LDCC and high school credit.
