WWI Digital Escape Room

It's the spring of 1917. As FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) agents for the United States Government, you and your colleague have been assigned a new partner. For the past few months together, you have been watching the conflict in Europe and discussing what has occurred over the last few years very carefully. The United States wishes to remain neutral. But as the war in Europe between our allies and the German alliances rages on that policy looks like it might soon change.

You and your partners have been examining evidence for months in the secret "Evidence Room" at the FBI headquarters. Based on what you have gathered, it is apparent you must advise the President of the United States to enter the war to save your allies and stop Germany and their allies from taking over Europe.

Right as you are about to gather the evidence and make your case to the President, your newest partner suddenly runs out of the room slams the door and locks it behind himself! He reveals to you then that he is a German spy and locked you in the room to prevent you from advising the President to enter the war against his country!

But, in the back of the room is a secret door. However, there are 4 locks on the door that are impossible to remove without the correct combinations. The combinations for each are hidden within the resources you have gathered. In order to escape the room and advise the President before war comes to the United States, you must analyze the evidence below that you have gathered to unlock the combinations and escape the room!

Write down the answers EXACTLY as you receive them. For example, if the answer was “AMeRiCa” bringing me “America” would be wrong!

Each group only gets ONE hint. You must agree as a group to use the hint. In order to show you all agree, EVERYONE in your group must raise their hands to acknowledge their vote then come to the front of the class and say aloud for the class one element of MANIA and how that element led to the start of WWI. You must be thorough in your explanation! Once all letters are exhausted, you must discuss one of the other two questions about America’s entry into the war.

Good luck! You have until the bell to escape!
